AEHT Annual Conference vol 2

In my last post about AEHT, I wrote about the contest. Now a little about how we spent our free time.

Every day after the days at the campus we had our leisure time. Already on the 1st night we got ourselves an international group of people with whom we spent the week, and it was very fun. Our group consisted of 4 Estonians, a French couple, a Finn and a Turk, who we met on Tuesday.

We had lots of fun in that short time. AEHT 2011 also organized a leisure program. On Wednesday there was a Dutch night, where the dress code was “orange”. It was held at the ADO Den Hague football stadium, which was fantastic. We also got a little tour in there.

On Thursday evening there was the Heineken Experience event. We were taken to Amsterdam to the Heineken museum/old brewery. There was lots of bad beer (sorry to Heineken fans, I just don’t like it), though I drank it, because there was no alternative to it.

On our last day there was the closing gala in a huge church in the centre of Hague. The menu for it was pretty good.

1. Thinly sliced beef with nut dressing and served with salad

2. Red perch fillet on ratatouille served with bouilabasse and Dutch shrimps

3. Stewed loin of veal with seasonal vegetables and a potato quiche served with a coarse mustard gravy

4. Chocolate bombe "Mondriaan"

From our company of 8 people 2 got medals. The Finnish guy Jan got a silver medal in Culinary arts and a girl from my school got a bronze medal in Pastry. Because it was our last night all together we had as much fun as we could and it was sad to leave, but if life is good I hope we will all meet again.
